The children call me “Ms. Collett”. I started Yunaland in November of 2011.
After waiting 12 years to be blessed with my son, I found myself with the dilemma of wanting to be a stay at home mom. I had dreamed for years of opening a daycare. I spent the first 5 years of my career in the Social Services field working with disadvantaged families. Followed by 22 years in the corporate world, where I learnt valuable skills that I use to run my company. My son was the catalyst that allowed me to realize my passion, my calling.
My personal belief is: “if it’s not good enough for my child, its also not good enough for yours either.
I am a christian lady, and I am so grateful now to my mother for this upbringing.(Yes, I remember not wanting to go to church). The daily decisions I make for Yunaland are governed by my christian principles.
Yunaland is not just a business for me, but my passion, my purpose. I am truly blessed to be able to “work” at my passion. I get asked a lot: “how do you do this everyday? I always answer: “how can I not”?
The irony. I set out to do my little part in the “village” to teach children. I smile, because I found out very quickly that I learn so much from the children.
I strive to make Yunaland the best Centre possible, and I will continue to work towards excellence .
I humbly thank you for the opportunity to assist with your childcare needs. It is a huge responsibility and one that I do not take lightly.
Feb 2024: I’m still on this journey of serving the children. 13 years. I cant believe it. I feel so blessed. A lot has changed in the industry. One thing has remained constant: My love of working with the children. A true blessing.
