Ans: We are licensed to provide care to for -Toddlers (18 months and up) : -Preschool (30 months plus. -School age children (4 yrs to 12 yrs). We offer : -Regular full time -6 hour daily program (9 am -2:50 pm) -Flexible part time -Emergency service -Before and After school (pick and drop service to area schools) -PD days March break / Summer program/ all non school days. Q: What are your hours and are you open on statutory Holidays? Ans: We are closed on all statutory holidays, including Easter Monday and Good Friday. Regular hours are Mon to Thur 7 am-6 pm Fridays 7 am- 5:45 pm. On extreme weather days (snow days) we are closed along with the Peel Region schools, and our drop to and pick up from school service suspended for safety reasons. Q: What are your admissions requirements? Ans: Registration form completion, security deposit (2 weeks fee), plus a one time registration fee, copy of Immunisation record. Q: May I bring food and special items that my child likes to eat from home? Yunaland is a nut free facility. In an effort to protect the children from allergens, we do not take any outside food. All snacks and lunches are provided at the Centre. We follow the Canada food guide and we offer a daily meat plus a vegetarian option. We offer 2% milk and water. We do not serve juice. We cannot take any birthday treat bags that contain food items. My child cries when I drop them off. Why? This is a typical behaviour for small children who may have some separation anxiety, or may just be expressing to parent/guardian via tears that they will miss them. This crying behaviour is also more common on "Monday's after a weekend at home. Once a child is dropped off (please drop off and leave immediately) they quickly fall into their Center routine and engage with their friends. Before parents/guardians walk to the parking lot and start their vehicles, "crying child" is fine, and off to their "job" of learning and playing. The Center will communicate to parent /guardian any crying behaviour that is chronic or indicate reasons for concern. Q: What are your fees? Ans: We have a variety of flexible services (Full day) ,(Part time)(Tue and Thur or Mon Wed Fri) and Day Nursery service daily: 9 am-2:50 pm daily) Please contact Centre for fee schedule and availability. We accept Region of Peel fee subsidy. Q; My child does not nap during the day. Do the children have to sleep? Ans: There is a Ministry mandated 2 hours rest period/quiet time. Children who do not want to sleep are provided with a variety of quiet activities. Q: Will you potty train my child? The Center will gladly assist parents with their at home potty training initiatives, that fall within our group washroom routines. Medication We only administer prescription medication, and a completed medication form is required to be filled and signed by parent/guardian prior to administering. A separate form is required for each medication. We respectfully ask parents to assist us with staff training during on boarding for children with any special health needs, and care procedures. Personal Care Items We require children to have at least one change of clothes, two is recommended. Indoor shoes with covered toes are mandatory. During the summer we request that water bottles and sunscreen (form required re application) be provided. A blanket during the winter months is recommended. All toiletries; diapers , pulls up , creams etc are to be provided by parents/guardians. Center provides individual cots and cot sheets. Cubbies Each child is assigned a cubbie to store their personal items. Please label all items. Center is not responsible for loss or misplaced items due to lack of labelling. Personal files/Confidentiality of information Files are secured in a locked office within a locked filing cabinet. Information provided on registration form is treated as confidential and only disclosed to appropriate authorities under the "duty to report" requirements. Please advise the Center if your address and phone numbers change. It is vital that we have current information for our emergency preparedness procedures. Photographs and Publicity We occasionally post pictures of the children and their Teachers engaging in center activities and /or displaying their crafts and classroom academic work. We only publish using the children for whom the parents/guardians have signed the consent section of the registration form. Facility Security/Children Safety We have a window check process mandatory for all staff prior to opening doors. We have surveillance cameras on our grounds, and we have a first time pick up photo ID requirement for emergency/secondary pick up personnel. We will not release children to any person/persons appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or to anyone who appears to be a minor. Please ensure that contact information for your emergency pick up persons are up to date. Sick Children We cannot care for sick children who pose a health risk to other children and staff. Parents/guardians will be contacted to pick up. We also cannot care for children who appear to have a contagious illness, or temperatures above "normal". They will be need to be picked up immediately , and a doctors note will be required confirming re admittance to centre is OK. We cannot administer over the counter medicines like "Tylenol" "Advil" etc. We only administer doctor prescribed medications, with specific written instructions from parents/guardians. Arrival and Departure times/Late fees/Breakfast Registration form requires a drop off and pick up time. A late fee is charged for time over pick up time stated on form. There is additional late fees for pick up after centre closes at pm. Please contact Center for late fee rate. We ask that children be dropped on time to maximize their learning which starts at 9 am. Breakfast is served to children who arrive early, and ends at 8:45. Please ensure that children who arrive after 8:45 are fed a healthy breakfast prior to dropping at center and are ready to start their day. Payment Frequency/Late Payment Fees/Tax Receipts Yunaland payment is due on the 1st of each month. A late payment fee is applied on the 2nd of the month. Parental portion of fees for subsidised spots is due on the 1st of the month. A late payment fee is charged on the 2nd of the month. You may pay on our secure website via : Visa, Master Card, Amex, Discovery, PayPal, (E-transfers to info@yunaland.ca) We don't have credit card processing capabilities on site. Tax receipts Receipts are provided monthly. Please note that no year end summary statement is provided, so please maintain all your receipts. There is a charge to provide hard copy and email duplicates. Curriculum/Report Cards We offer our 2 level custom learning curriculum included with all program types: YUNA Basics and AreYUready: focused on getting preschoolers ready for kindergarten). Our Learning Curriculum incorporates the Ministry of Education research findings on: "How does learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early years. We provide report cards to parents twice per year. A daily conversation with your child's teacher regarding their progress is always welcome. Our Castle equipped with various learning apparatus is key to keeping our program fun, and innovative. Outside Play This is mandated by the ministry of education. The children are taken out twice per day, except in extreme weather conditions, in which case alternative indoor physical activities are utilised. We have gorgeous nature filled grounds, which facilitate various "natural" play activities like nature walks, nature studies, short walk trips to the conservation area across from our facility etc. See the pictures on our gallery page of our grounds. Kiddie Garden We have a Kiddie Garden in Spring where we encourage children to plant a vegetable, and care for it. Children gain an understanding of how our food grows. The children get to harvest their vegetable and eat it on site. This is excting for them!! Discipline Children will be disciplined in a manner that maintains their dignity, and self esteem. Discipline will be age appropriate. No corporal, emotional, or hold-back of basic life sustenance is permitted at centre . Centre will openly communicate with parent/guardian and work with them to address any behaviour issues. Field Trips A parent consent form is required per trip. Each form details the specific trip, mode of travel, departure and arrival time to and from centre etc. Some trips may require additional fees. Prohibited Practices -verbal or physical abuse of staff -behaviour that places any child in the Centre at risk -Habitual late drop off and pick up -Late payment of fees -Disregard for policies and procedures that are in place to protect children , staff and the general operation of the Centre. Withdrawing my child Centre requires 2 weeks paid notice prior to using security deposit, which can only be used for your last service weeks /week. Security deposit is not refunded, it must be used for last service week/ weeks. Refund is only issued to parents where Region of Peel pays all fees up to the last service date, and only if the required withdrawal notice is given. Please ensure you coordinate your schedule to align with the withdrawal date you require, while providing the Centre with the required notice. We cannot accommodate "custom" withdrawal. Inadequate notice to Centre, forfeits your security deposit. Complaints Complaints will be responded to in writing within 24 hours with a specific timeline given for resolution.
